Privacy Policy

Effective date: 1 October 2026. This version says that Big Helpers uses Google's paid Gemini API tier and what Google does with content on that tier, and that the optional Gemini features are offered in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, with what a reader there needs to know. The 29 September 2026 version added the optional Gemini features in Pixifold 1.4; the 30 September 2026 version explained that the relay's daily-limit counters are named by keyed hashes and deleted automatically, and described the age limit, the web access log and the relay's failure tallies.

What Pixifold processes

Pixifold is designed to process images, PDFs, documents, filenames, sizes, page or frame counts, thumbnails, folder structure, operation settings and local library state on your device when you request a feature. A password entered for a protected local operation is used for that operation and is not intended to be saved, logged, indexed, shared, copied to the clipboard or sent to Big Helpers.

What Big Helpers collects

Big Helpers does not operate a Pixifold account, advertising, analytics, tracking or remote crash-reporting service. Every Pixifold tool works on your device and offline, except the optional Gemini features, which need the internet. Pixifold sends nothing to Big Helpers unless you tap one of the optional Gemini features described below; then the pages, text, question or photo you chose pass through a Big Helpers relay to Google Gemini, and Big Helpers keeps none of that content.

A paid Pixifold Plus plan adds no new collection by Big Helpers. The App Store or Google Play handles the purchase and reports the purchased product and entitlement state to the app. Big Helpers does not receive, process or store your card, bank-account or other payment-instrument details.

If you deliberately save, share or export through an operating-system picker, another app, a person, a backup service or a cloud provider, that recipient's privacy policy controls its handling.

Optional Gemini features

From version 1.4, Pixifold on iPhone, iPad and Android has three optional features that use Google Gemini:

• Ask about a PDF summarises, or answers a question about, the pages you pick on iPhone and iPad (the whole document if you pick none; for a scanned PDF, only the first page you pick, as a picture), or the one page you pick on Android.
• Name with Gemini suggests a file name for a scan you saved.
• Find edges with Gemini places the four corners of the page in a photo you captured, in the corner editor.

Every result is a suggestion you confirm: an answer you can check against the page it came from, a name you can edit, or corners you can drag before applying. Gemini can be wrong.

When anything is sent

Nothing is sent until you have read and accepted a one-time explanation, and after that only when you tap a Gemini action. These features need an internet connection. Nothing is sent in the background.

What is sent

• Ask about a PDF: your question, plus, on iPhone and iPad, the text of the pages you picked, or of every page when you picked none (marked with page numbers, up to 20,000 characters), or an image of the first of them when none has a text layer, as with a scan; on Android, an image of the one page you picked and its page number.
• Name with Gemini: an image of the scan's first page.
• Find edges with Gemini: the photo you captured, once, as a reduced JPEG image.

Each request also carries a random install ID that Pixifold creates once on your device (it is not your name, an account, an advertising identifier or a hardware identifier), your device's region setting, and, as with any internet connection, your network (IP) address. The relay reads the region setting only so that Big Helpers can switch the features off for a region without an app update, and does not keep it.

Who processes it

The request travels encrypted (HTTPS) to a relay that Big Helpers operates at pixifold.bighelpers.in. The relay adds its own instructions and passes the content to Big Helpers' AI gateway on the same server, which sends it to Google's Gemini API. Google processes it and returns the answer, name or corners. Your install ID and network address are not passed to Google.

What Big Helpers keeps

None of the content: not the pages, text, question, photo or answer. The relay does not record what you sent, and the AI gateway records only which feature was used, how large the request was and whether it succeeded. To enforce daily limits (30 requests a day per install and 100 per network address), the relay keeps one small counter a day for the install ID and one for the network address. Each counter holds only a number. Its name is a keyed hash (HMAC-SHA256) of the install ID or network address, made with a key that changes every day (UTC) and is derived from a random secret key kept only on the relay's server. Without that secret key, a counter's name cannot be turned back into the install ID or network address, cannot be matched to an address by trying every possible address, and cannot be linked to the counters of another day. Big Helpers holds the secret key, and the relay uses it only to name these counters.

So that failures can be diagnosed, the relay also keeps a daily tally of requests the AI gateway could not answer, counted by feature and error code only (for example "name, 502, upstream"). A tally holds no install ID, network address or content, and is deleted with the counters.

The counters are deleted automatically. Each day (UTC), when the relay handles its first request, it deletes every counter from before the previous day. So a counter is kept until the end of the day after the one it was made on (UTC), and is deleted the next time the relay handles a request after that; if nobody uses the relay for a while, old counters stay until the next request.

Like any request to this website, a request to the relay appears in the web server's standard access log: your network address, the time, the address requested, the result and its size, and the app name "Pixifold", which the app sends in place of the usual description of your device. That log never contains the content you sent. The web host rotates it into monthly archives.

What Google does with it

Google processes the content under its Gemini API terms. Big Helpers uses Google's paid Gemini API tier. As Google's terms and its abuse-monitoring page stated on 1 October 2026, on that tier:

• Google does not use what you send, or the answer, to improve its products, and processes them under its data processing terms for products in which Google is a data processor.
• Google logs what you send and the answer for a limited period, only to detect and prevent misuse under its Prohibited Use Policy and for any legal or regulatory disclosures it is required to make. Its abuse-monitoring page gives that period as 55 days.
• If Google's safety checks flag a request as possible misuse, authorised Google staff may review it.

Google's terms can change; this section describes them as they stood on 1 October 2026. Send only pages you have the right to share, and think before sending one with sensitive personal information, such as identity numbers, bank details or medical records: it is kept by Google for that period.

Who can use them

The Gemini features are meant for people aged 18 and over; Google's Gemini API terms do not allow them to be offered to people under 18. The explanation shown before first use says so; Pixifold does not ask for or check anyone's age.

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland

The Gemini features are offered there as everywhere else, from iOS build 23 and Android version code 16 of Pixifold 1.4 (earlier 1.4 test builds hid them there). Google's terms allow an app to offer them there only on Google's paid tier, which Big Helpers uses.

• Big Helpers sends content to Google only with your consent: you give it by accepting the one-time explanation in the app, which says what is sent and that Google processes it, and then by tapping a Gemini action each time.
• What you send passes through Big Helpers' relay (Big Helpers is a company in India) to Google, which processes it under its Gemini API terms as described above. Those terms say Google may store it transiently or cache it in any country where Google or its agents maintain facilities.
• You can withdraw your consent at any time with the Gemini features switch in Settings; nothing is sent after that. Withdrawing does not undo a request already sent: Big Helpers kept none of its content, and Google keeps it for the period described above.
• For questions, email admin@bighelpers.in. You can also complain to your data protection authority.

Turning them off

In Pixifold, Settings > Gemini features is on by default so the buttons are visible. Turning it off hides every Gemini button and withdraws your consent; nothing is sent after that, and turning it back on shows the explanation again before anything is sent. Big Helpers keeps no content, so there is no content of yours for it to delete; and because it cannot tell whose request was whose, it cannot find a particular request to ask Google to delete it. The daily counters described above hold no content and are deleted automatically.

Permissions and retention

Pixifold requests access needed for a feature you choose. Local files, thumbnails, metadata and settings remain on your device until you remove them, clear app data or uninstall, subject to operating-system backup and migration. Temporary processing and share files are removed on normal completion, failure and cancellation paths where supported.

Website and support messages

This website sets no cookie and runs no analytics, advertising or tracking script. If you choose to email us, we receive your email address, message and anything you attach. We use that information to answer the request, provide support, maintain necessary business records and protect the service. Email in transit is handled by your mail provider and ours under their policies.

Children and changes

Pixifold is a general utility and is not directed to children. The optional Gemini features are meant for people aged 18 and over; the explanation shown before first use says so, and Pixifold does not ask for or check anyone's age. We may update this policy when the product's data practices change. The effective date above identifies the current version.
